Ampthill Author celebrates being Stuck in a Moment at William Hill’s sports book longlist

An Ampthill author featured in Bedford Today last month is celebrating after being included in the longlist for a presitigious sports book prize writes Layth Yousif.

Stewart Taylor has made the final 15 for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award 2014.

Stewart’s best selling book which he spent five years researching and writing his book Stuck in a Moment: The Ballard of Paul Vaessen (GCR Books) has been met with critical acclaim about the tragic Arsenal hero from the 1980s.

The succesful author said: “I’ve always been an Arsenal fan and I also remember Paul’s passing in 2001 and thought it was time to tell his story.” The William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award is the world’s longest established and most valuable literary sports-writing prize. As well as a £25,000 cash prize, the winning author will receive a free £2,500 William Hill bet, a hand-bound copy of their book, and a day at the races.

The shortlist will be announced on 24th October. The winner will be announced at an afternoon reception at BAFTA, in central London, on Thursday 27th November.
