A 10 hour relay around Bedford’s Jubilee Park has raised more than £2,000 and increased awareness of the silent killer thrombosis.

It was organised by Jodi and Kev Henderson, in memory of his sister Jay Henderson, who died suddenly aged just 40 from a blood clot in 2012.

There was also a barbecue, bouncy castle, tombola, cake stall and raffle during Saturday’s event.

Around 100 people took part from 1pm to 11pm and among the runners was Bedford Borough Mayor Dave Hodgson.

The funds raised will go to Thrombosis UK, which promotes awareness, research and care of the condition.

Jodi said: “Thank you to everyone who supported us. Without them it just wouldn’t have been possible.”
