All wards at Bedford Hospital are now open following an outbreak of the highly contagious Norovirus.

Several of the hospital’s wards had to be closed to new patients after the sick were struck down by the winter vomiting bug.

Visiting hours and numbers were also restricted in a bid to control the virus.

A spokesman for the hospital said staff remain ‘vigilant’.

People are asked not to come to hospital, unless it is an emergency, if they have experienced symptoms of diarrhoea or vomiting within the last 48 hours. Instead call your GP surgery for advice.
