Alistair Burt out in cabinet reshuffle

The MP for North East Bedfordshire has lost his job within the government’s cabinet.

It was all change at the cabinet today (Monday, October 7) and as part of the reshuffle MP Alistair Burt has lost his job as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

After the announcement Mr Burt, who is regularly seen at functions in Chronicle Country, tweeted: “Standing down today. The last three and a half years have been a pleasure working on an extraordinary portfolio with talented people. Thank you all!”

He has been replaced by MP Hugh Robertson.

Mr Burt has not yet been allocated a new role.
