As Bedford and the rest of the country prepares for the reopening of non-essential shops on Monday (April 12), one well-loved store will be welcoming back shoppers for its closing down sale.
There will be a sale of existing Debenhams stock and the store - on the corner of High Street and Silver Street - will remain open until the expected notice of final closure.

Hide AdBack in December, Bedford Today revealed how Debenhams confirmed it would wind the business down after JD Sports pulled out of rescue talks with the department store chain.
The news came as bitter blow to the town's high street after department store Beales - also in Silver Street - closed last year.
Debenhams Bedford store manager Julia Horsman said she was looking forward to welcoming lifelong customers to the store for as long as the sale continues.
Debenhams has confirmed that stores will start to close permanently from 2 May, with the stock clearance completed and final stores expected to close by 15 May.

We will be reopening with a fantastic range of offers and discounts across all of our customers’ favourite brands and products.
"Stocks are limited and expected to sell out quickly so customers should visit their nearest store quickly to avoid disappointment. We are very grateful for the efforts of our staff who have worked so hard throughout the most difficult of circumstances to keep the business trading."
