Jazz festival's main stage has delights aplenty in store

And the Main Stage offers plenty of great music on Saturday and Sunday at the Quarry Theatre.

The stage runs from 12 noon to 4.45pm on both days. On the Saturday, Manchester guitarists Stuart McCallum and Mike Walker, both well known for their work with The Cinematic Orchestra and The Impossible Gentlemen respectively, will be followed by The Frank Griffith Quartet: Kind of Getz led by internationally renowned and locally based American Tenor Saxophonist Frank Griffith, featuring music of the great Stan Getz.

The music continues with the MOBO award winning group Empirical performing music from their new album Connection, followed by The Karen Sharp Quartet led by one of the foremost saxophonists in the country, Karen Sharp.

Kicking off Sunday’s Main Stage’ events, are The Kansas Smitty’s House Band’, an eight-piece band who are one of the driving forces in the London jazz scene, followed by Huw Warren: Trio Brazil led by award winning Welsh Pianist Huw Warren and celebrates his lifelong love affair with the music of Brazil.

Next up are have the radical interpreters of classic New Orleans jazz, Pigfoot, followed by The Pete Churchill Quartet featuring Bobby Wellins, led by composer, pianist and singer Pete Churchill.
