The street – called Wooding Way – makes up part of Bellway’s The Pastures development off Whitworth Way and was named after Jane Wooding who sadly passed away in 2018.

Jane, who lived in Wilstead her whole life, was involved in many community groups, including helping to form the village playgroup and working at Wilstead Lower School for over 25 years as well as standing as the secretary for the local football club.

Her family, including her three sons, Mark, Gavin and Nick, were invited to the development to witness the street sign being unveiled.

Nick Wooding, who now lives in a Bellway home on Wooding Way, said: “The whole family have been extremely overwhelmed by Bellway’s kind gesture to name a street in Wilstead after our mum.

“She poured her heart and soul into the local community and it is fantastic to see her work has been recognised.

"We are all really grateful that her memory will live on, and we will have somewhere to go where we can remember her achievements.”

Shirley MacLeod, sales manager for Bellway Northern Home Counties, said: “Jane was a huge part of the community here in Wilstead, and we are extremely proud to be able to name a street after her and her achievements.”
