The council wants your opinion about housing in Bedford.

You can view Bedford Borough Council's draft Housing Strategy 2021-26 online, or request to see a paper copy.

The strategy sets out the council’s four key objectives for housing over the five-year time period.

These objectives include Understanding Housing Need; ensuring the council has up-to-date information on what housing is needed, and Delivering the Homes Required.

The third addresses Making Best Use of Existing Housing, including bringing empty properties back into use, while the fourth focuses on Meeting the Housing Needs of Vulnerable People from specialist housing for those with a disability, to support needs for those fleeing domestic violence.

Cllr Colleen Atkins, portfolio holder for housing said “We have worked to support the vulnerable, bring empty homes back into use, and deliver adaptions to help people stay in their homes, and I am really pleased that these continue to be key elements of our draft strategy into the future. Take this chance to have your say on the objectives and plans in our draft Housing Strategy from 2021-2026.”

It's available to view here. Paper copies are also available to view at the council’s Customer Service Centre in Horne Lane, by appointment only and all parish councils have been sent a paper copy of the strategy.

The consultation is open until 5pm on August 18.
