Glorious gardens galore are in store at Woburn Abbey

Now in its 7th year, the Woburn Abbey Garden Show has become an important diary date for many keen gardeners. Set against the backdrop of Woburn Abbey, ‘the Gardener’s Garden Show’ takes place within the 42 acres of Abbey Gardens.

Beginners can enjoy an introduction to gardening, while the more experienced have an opportunity to hone or learn new skills and buy unique plants and garden items.

The Duchess Of Bedford will be officially opening the new waterfall over the Rockery. The Rockery was originally created as part of Humphry Repton’s plans for Woburn Abbey Gardens in the early 1800s and fully restored in 2009 and in 2011 a Pavilion was added. The area will be completed with the addition of a waterfall.

Other show highlights include demonstrations and Q&A sessions. Presenter Pippa Greenwood, a regular writer and blogger for BBC’s Gardener’s World Magazine and Martin Fish, Garden Writer and BBC broadcaster, will share their expertise. The show also welcomes members of the RHS plant advisory committees, who will be offering advice and demonstrations throughout the weekend.

BBC Three Counties Radio will be unveiling a show garden featuring an 1831 rustic temple, historically part of the Woburn Estate.

RHS Gold Medal Winning and other renowned plant nurseries will be offering a range of rare and interesting plants.

Also new for this year is ‘Focus on Food Tourism’ - an area of the show dedicated to independent food suppliers, showcasing the best of regional food and drink. Many producers in the food marquees will have their ‘low-in and free-from’ artisan products available to buy.

Free guided garden tours are available with the RHS qualified Woburn Abbey Gardeners to give visitors an additional insight into the background running and recreation of the Humphry Repton landscape of the gardens.
