It features guest host Tim Lihoreau from Classic FM and stars soloist Yvonne Howard performing with Ampthill Concert Orchestra. There will also be music from Ampthill Town Band and Redborne Jazz, ending in a fireworks display.

Lead organiser Steve Hill said: “Now we are in the final stages before the big day we cannot wait for July 2.

“The entire weekend’s theme is Best of British and, frankly, what is more British or celebratory than a Proms?

“We believe we have a truly fantastic line up – Yvonne Howard is a stunning soloist and her voice filling Ampthill Park is not an event to be missed.”

As well as heading up the Proms, Steve will also be playing his trumpet during the evening as part of the Ampthill Town Band - after getting married to Belinda Pyper earlier in the day. The couple met while selling tickets for a previous Ampthill Proms - their wedding guests will be attending this year’s Proms after the couple tie the knot earlier in the day.

“It’s been an amazing few months and it all comes together on Saturday July 2 – both for the Proms and for myself and the love of my life, Belinda. It will be wonderful experience to get married – and then have our ‘reception’ with thousands of people.”

Ampthill Park Proms is a not-for-profit music festival, organised by volunteers for the local community. Tickets range from £8.20 to £39.97. Visit www.ampthillfestival.co.uk/proms to book.

The Ampthill Festival continues on Sunday July with its Gala Day. See page 30.
