Survey: TV doc urges patients to feed back experiences

TV doctor Hilary Jones has appealed to anyone affected by prostate cancer to take part in an important survey, launched by The Prostate Cancer Charity.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men with 37,000 diagnosed with it each year in the UK.

Dr Jones said: “As a GP, I have spoken to many men affected by the disease and I know that for these men and their families the care and support they are given can be as important to them as the outcome of treatment.

“However, I also know that not all men receive the same level of care. This simply must change – all men deserve to get the same quality of care and support regardless of where they live.

“This is why I am urging anyone affected prostate cancer to help The Prostate Cancer Charity tackle this important issue.

“The charity urgently needs to know what your recent experience of prostate cancer care on the NHS was like so that they can develop a set of national standards of quality care that can be used by doctors and patients to ensure men with prostate cancer get the support they need whilst undergoing treatment.

“Please share your views and help shape the future of care for men with prostate cancer by taking part in The Prostate Cancer Charity’s survey.

“You can take part online via their website www.prostate-cancer.org.uk/qualitycare or request a paper survey by calling 020 8222 7182 and returning it by January 11 when the survey closes.”
