Stotfold doctor denies indecent assault allegations

Dr Robert Lewis, 49, was working at the Larksfield Surgery in Stotfold when the allegations were first made to police in 2013. He has been suspended pending his trial.

On Friday he appeared at Luton Crown Court, when 20 new allegatons of indecent assault were put to him and he pleaded not guilty.

He had already pleaded not guilty to 17 charges and his trial had been fixed for Oct 26 at Luton Crown Court.

The trial on the 37 charges is expected to last about six weeks.

The charges cover a four year period between 1999 and 2003. The first allegations that were made related to pre employment medicals he carried out.

The doctor, who was arrested at his Shefford home, sat in the well of the court for the short hearing and was not required to go into the dock.

He was released on bail with conditions that he must not contact any of the complainants and must not seek employment as a GP.
