WEEKEND UPDATE: Bedfordshire records more than 70 cases of Covid

Over the weekend, Bedfordshire recorded 71 new cases, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

Out of that figure, Bedford has 10 new cases, with a total of 13,431 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus; Central Bedfordshire has 23 cases, with a total of 15,893, and Luton has 38 cases, with a new total of 20,432.

There were no deaths in Bedford (485), Luton (497) or Central Bedfordshire (569).

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 31,356 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 76,493 and Milton Keynes has 20,028 cases.

In the UK, as of Sunday, April 18, 32,849,223 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 9,930,846 had received their second dose. ​

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases now stands at 4,387,820. The number of deaths is 127,270.
