WEEKEND UPDATE: Bedfordshire records more than 50 Covid cases

Over the weekend, Bedfordshire recorded 56 new cases, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

Out of that figure, Bedford has 31 new cases, with a total of 13,662 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus; Central Bedfordshire has eight cases, with a total of 16,060, and Luton has 17 cases, with a new total of 20,741.

There were deaths in Bedford (485), and Luton (499) but the number was revised down by one in Central Bedfordshire (570).

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 31,685 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 77,112 and Milton Keynes has 20,176 cases.

In the UK, as of Sunday (May 10), 35,371,669 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 17,669,379 had received their second dose. ​

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases now stands at 4,434,860. The number of deaths is 127,605.
