WEEKEND UPDATE: Bedfordshire records more than 250 cases

Over the weekend, 256 people in Bedfordshire were diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England

Hide AdOut of that total, Bedford had 34 new cases with a total of 3,264, Central Bedfordshire had 68 new cases with a total of 3,545, but Luton recorded 154 with a new total of 5,740.
On Thursday, Bedford discovered it would leave the medium tier and be lumped in with the whole of the county in the 'high' Tier 2 as Luton records almost 2,500 more cases than Bedford.
There was one death in Bedford (197), one death in Luton (217) and no deaths in Central Bedfordshire (255).

Hide AdMeanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 7,336 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 17,325 and Milton Keynes has 3,726 cases.
The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm.
Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases now stands at 1,617,327. The number of deaths is 58,245.
