WEEKEND UPDATE: Bedfordshire records more than 120 Covid cases

Over the weekend, Bedfordshire recorded 122 new cases, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

Out of that figure, Bedford has 71 new cases, with a total of 13,895 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus; Central Bedfordshire has 26 cases, with a total of 16,158, and Luton has 25 cases, with a new total of 20,820.

There were deaths in Bedford (485), Luton (499) or Central Bedfordshire (571).

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 31,768 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 77,302 and Milton Keynes has 20,238 cases.

In the UK, as of Sunday (May 16), 36,573,354 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 20,103,658 had received their second dose. ​

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases now stands at 4,450,777. The number of deaths is 127,679.
