WEEKEND UPDATE: Bedfordshire records almost 170 Covid cases

Over the weekend, Bedfordshire recorded 168 new cases, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

Out of that figure, Bedford had 62 new cases, with a total of 14,987 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus; Central Bedfordshire has 57 cases, with a total of 16,732, and Luton has 49 cases, with a new total of 21,480.

There was one death in Bedford (486) - but none in Central Bedfordshire (571) or Luton (501).

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 32,412 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 78,493 and Milton Keynes has 20,653 cases.

In the UK, as of Sunday (June 14), 41,551,201 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 29,792,658 had received their second dose. ​

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases now stands at 4,565,813. The number of deaths is 127,904.
