UPDATE: Over 40 people in Bedford test positive for Covid for second day running

As of today (May 28), Bedford recorded 44 new case of coronavirus, with a total of 14,408 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

Yesterday, Bedford recorded 43 new cases.

There were no deaths in Bedford (485) or Central Bedfordshire (571) - but one in Luton (500).

Central Bedfordshire has 18 new Covid cases with a total of 16,333, while Luton recorded 36 with a new total of 21,017.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 31,885 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 77,591 and Milton Keynes has 20,337 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

In the UK, as of today, 38,871,200 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 24,478,052 have received their second dose.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 4,182 and now stands at 4,477,705. The number of deaths has risen by 10 to 127,768.
