As of today (May 10), Bedford recorded 31 new case of coronavirus, with a total of 13,693 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were no deaths in Bedford (485) or Luton (499) and one in Central Bedfordshire (571).

Central Bedfordshire has 12 new Covid cases with a total of 16,072, while Luton recorded seven with a new total of 20,748.

On Friday, Bedford Today revealed how seven cases of the Indian variant had been found in Bedford.Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 31,704 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 77,144 and Milton Keynes has 20,186 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

In the UK, as of today, 35,472,295 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 17,856,550 have received their second dose. ​

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 2,357 and now stands at 4,437,217. The number of deaths has risen by only four to 127,609.
