As of today (May 17), Bedford recorded 22 new case of coronavirus, with a total of 13,917 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were no deaths in Bedford (485) or Luton (499) or Central Bedfordshire (571).

Central Bedfordshire has 12 new Covid cases with a total of 16,170, while Luton recorded 11 with a new total of 20,831

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 31,785 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 77,319 and Milton Keynes has 20,246 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

In the UK, as of today, 36,704,672 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 20,287,403 have received their second dose. ​

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 1,979 and now stands at 4,452,756. The number of deaths has risen by five to 127,684.
