UPDATE: Only six people in Bedford test positive for Covid

As of today (April 21), Bedford recorded just six new case of coronavirus, with a total of 13,448 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were no deaths in Bedford (485), one in Central Bedfordshire (570) and none Luton (497).

Central Bedfordshire has eight new Covid cases with a total of 15,915, while Luton recorded 20 with a new total of 20,491.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 31,423 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 76,603 and Milton Keynes has 20,043 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

In the UK, as of today, 33,139,742 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 10,775,817 have received their second dose. ​

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 2,396 and now stands at 4,395,703. The number of deaths has risen by 22 to 127,327.
