UPDATE: New low as Bedford records just five cases in 24 hours

As of today (March 8), Bedford has recorded five new cases of coronavirus, with a total of 13,141 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There was one death in Bedford (481), no deaths in Central Bedfordshire (564) and none in Luton (483) either.

Central Bedfordshire has 17 new Covid cases with a total of 15,274, while Luton recorded 28 with a new total of 19,161.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 30,418 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 74,690 and Milton Keynes has 19,329 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

In the UK, as of today, 22,377,255 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 1,142,643 have received their second dose. ​

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 4,712 and now stands at 4,223,232. The number of deaths has risen by 65 to 124,566.
