UPDATE: here's how many new cases were recorded in Bedford in the last 24 hours

As of today (May 5), Bedford recorded eight new case of coronavirus, with a total of 13,582 people now diagnosed with the virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were no deaths in Bedford (485) Luton (499) or Central Bedfordshire (571).

Central Bedfordshire has eight new Covid cases with a total of 16,031, while Luton recorded 12 with a new total of 20,694.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 31,641 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 76,995 and Milton Keynes has 20,139 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 2,144 to 4,425,940. The number of deaths has risen by 27 to 127,570.

As of May 4, in the UK, 34,795,074 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for COVID-19, and 15,887,493 had received their second dose.
