UPDATE: Covid cases remain low as eight people test positive in Bedford

As of today (April 7), Bedford has recorded just eight new cases of coronavirus, with a total of 13,396 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were no deaths in Bedford (484), none in Central Bedfordshire (568) and one in Luton (496).

Central Bedfordshire has 12 new Covid cases with a total of 15,821, while Luton recorded 29 with a new total of 20,187.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 31,202 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 76,280 and Milton Keynes has 19,907 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

In the UK, as of today, 31,707,594 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 5,683,509 have received their second dose. ​

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 2,763 and now stands at 4,367,291. The number of deaths has risen by 45 to 126,927.
