UPDATE: Coronavirus cases in Bedford revised down by one

Today (May 18), Bedford's recorded coronavirus cases have been revised down by one with a total of 548 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus.

No new deaths from coronavirus were recorded at the Bedford Hospital over the weekend.

NHS England figures show 146 people had died in hospital at Bedford Hospital NHS Trust as of 5pm on Sunday (May 17) – the same number as on Friday.

In Central Bedfordshire, there is one new cases with a total of 577, while Luton has recorded no new cases and has a total of 668.

Buckinghamshire has a total of 940 cases, Hertfordshire has 2,761 and Milton Keynes has 507.

On Sunday, May 10, Boris Johnson said people should return to work if they can't do so from home - but they should try to avoid public transport for social distancing reasons. Some shops are also beginning to open with social distancing measures in place.

The Prime Minister also said there would now be no limit to the amount of exercise allowed.

The new figures are now recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases now stands at 246,406. The number of deaths has been recorded as 34,796.
