UPDATE: Bedfordshire has 62 new cases of coronavirus in 24 hours

Today (May 22), Bedfordshire has recorded a staggering 62 new cases of coronavirus in just 24 hours.

In Bedford, there 19 new cases, bringing the total to 603.

In Luton, there 24 new cases with a total of 707.

In Central Bedfordshire, there are 19 new cases with a total of 614.

However, in Buckinghamshire, it's a different story. Milton Keynes recorded one more coronavirus case - bringing the total to 508 now diagnosed with the deadly virus and Buckinghamshire has two more cases, bringing the total to 968.

In Hertfordshire, there are 2,816 cases in total.

On Sunday, May 10, Boris Johnson said people should return to work if they can't do so from home - but they should try to avoid public transport for social distancing reasons. Some shops are also beginning to open with social distancing measures in place.

The Prime Minister also said there would now be no limit to the amount of exercise allowed.

The new figures are now recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases now stands at 254,195. The number of deaths has been recorded as 36,393.
