UPDATE: Bedford records over 150 new coronavirus cases today

As of today (January 22), Bedford has recorded 154 new cases of coronavirus, with a total of 10,749 people now diagnosed with the virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

Central Bedfordshire has 190 new Covid cases with a total of 12,684, while Luton recorded 239 with a new total of 15,443.

There were eight deaths recorded in Bedford (339), eight deaths in Luton (365) and 11 deaths in Central Bedfordshire (429).

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 25,237 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 63,647 and Milton Keynes has 16,365.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 40,261 and now stands at 3,583,907. The number of deaths has risen by 1.401 to 95,981.

In the UK, as of January 21, 5,383,103 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for COVID-19, and 466,796 had received their second dose. ​

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.
