As of today (January 28), Bedford has recorded 136 new cases of coronavirus, with a total of 11,399 people now diagnosed with the virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were two deaths in Bedford (373), six deaths in Luton (395) and four deaths in Central Bedfordshire (461).

Central Bedfordshire has 157 new Covid cases with a total of 13,381, while Luton recorded 173 with a new total of 16,395.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 26,606 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 67,033 and Milton Keynes has 17,215 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 28,680 and now stands at 3,743,734. The number of deaths has risen by 1,239 to 103,126.

As of January 27, in the UK, 7,447,199 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for COVID-19, and 476,298 had received their second dose. ​In the East of England, 796,035 had received their first dose and 53,756 people had received their second dose of the vaccination.
