As of today (December 1), Bedford has 22 new cases of coronavirus, with a total of 3,306 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were two deaths in Bedford (199), one death in Luton (218) and one death in Central Bedfordshire (256).

On Thursday, Bedford discovered it would leave the medium tier it had been in before lockdown - and would now be lumped in with the whole of the county in the 'high' Tier 2 as Luton recorded over 2,500 more cases than Bedford.

Central Bedfordshire has 26 new Covid cases with a total of 3,611, while Luton recorded 58 with a new total of 5,883.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 7,532 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 17,808 and Milton Keynes has 3,854 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 12,330 and now stands at 1,629,657. The number of deaths has risen by 603 to 59,051.
