UPDATE: Bedford records almost 50 Covid cases in just 24 hours
And there is one death in the town
As of today (May 19), Bedford recorded 49 new case of coronavirus, with a total of 13,993 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.
However, the Government has revised historical case data in England.
On it's website, it said the introduction of a new system disrupted the removal of cases where a positive rapid lateral flow test was followed by all negative laboratory tests taken within three days.
Therefore 561 additional cases have been removed today.
There was one death in Bedford (485) and none in Central Bedfordshire (570) and Luton (499).
Central Bedfordshire has 11 new Covid cases with a total of 16,171, while Luton recorded nine with a new total of 20,848.
Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 31,764 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 77,764 and Milton Keynes has 20,239 cases.
The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.
In the UK, as of today, 36,985,505 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 20,870,453 have received their second dose.
Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 2,696 and now stands at 4,452,527. The number of deaths has risen by just three to 127,694.
The figures come from the Government website which is available for the public to view here.
