UPDATE: Bedford records almost 50 cases for second day running

As of today (February 17), Bedford has recorded 44 new cases of coronavirus, with a total of 12,690 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were two deaths in Central Bedfordshire (536), one death in Luton (465) and three deaths in Bedford (456).

Central Bedfordshire has 53 new Covid cases with a total of 14,735, while Luton recorded 94 with a new total of 18,269.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 29,330 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 72,821 and Milton Keynes has 18,604 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

In the UK, as of today, 15,940,972 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 558,577 have received their second dose. ​

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 12,718 and now stands at 4,071,185. The number of deaths has risen by 738 to 118,933.
