UPDATE: Bedford records 50 Covid cases in 24 hours

As of today (May 24), Bedford recorded 50 new case of coronavirus, with a total of 14,247 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were no deaths in Bedford (485), Central Bedfordshire (570) or Luton (499).

Central Bedfordshire has 18 new Covid cases with a total of 16,261, while Luton recorded 12 with a new total of 20,913.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 31,817 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 77,415 and Milton Keynes has 20,278 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

In the UK, as of today, 38,070,038 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 22,895,556 have received their second dose. ​

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 2,439 and now stands at 4,464,900. The number of deaths has risen by just three to 127,724.
