UPDATE: Bedford has two new cases of coronavirus and three new deaths

Today (May 26), Bedford has recorded two new cases of coronavirus in 24 hours, bringing the total to 611.

Three new deaths have also been recorded at Bedford Hospital.

In Luton, there were 16 new cases with a total of 738. In Central Bedfordshire, there were five new cases with a total of 625.

In Buckinghamshire, the total is 989, Milton Keynes has 508 cases and Hertfordshire has 2,853 cases in total.

On Sunday, May 10, Boris Johnson said people should return to work if they can't do so from home - but they should try to avoid public transport for social distancing reasons. Some shops are also beginning to open with social distancing measures in place.

The Prime Minister also said there would now be no limit to the amount of exercise allowed.

The new figures are now recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases now stands at 265,227. The number of deaths has been recorded as 37,048.
