Today (May 29), Bedford has recorded nine new cases of coronavirus in 24 hours, bringing the total to 648.

No new deaths have also been recorded at Bedford Hospital.

In Luton, there were 11 new cases with a total of 753. In Central Bedfordshire, there were four new cases with a total of 640.

In Buckinghamshire, the total is 997, Milton Keynes has 510 cases and Hertfordshire has 2,876 cases in total.

On Sunday, May 10, Boris Johnson said people should return to work if they can't do so from home - but they should try to avoid public transport for social distancing reasons. Some shops are also beginning to open with social distancing measures in place.

The Prime Minister also said there would now be no limit to the amount of exercise allowed.

The new figures are now recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases now stands at 271,222. The number of deaths has been recorded as 38,161.
