Today (May 27), Bedford has recorded 24 new cases of coronavirus in 24 hours, bringing the total to 635.

Three new deaths have also been recorded at Bedford Hospital.

In Luton, there were two new cases with a total of 740. In Central Bedfordshire, there were eight new cases with a total of 633.

In Buckinghamshire, the total is 994, Milton Keynes has 510 cases and Hertfordshire has 2,857 cases in total.

On Sunday, May 10, Boris Johnson said people should return to work if they can't do so from home - but they should try to avoid public transport for social distancing reasons. Some shops are also beginning to open with social distancing measures in place.

The Prime Minister also said there would now be no limit to the amount of exercise allowed.

The new figures are now recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases now stands at 267,240. The number of deaths has been recorded as 37,460.
