UPDATE: Bedford cases drop for second day running

As of today (January 26), Bedford has recorded 35 new cases of coronavirus, with a total of 11,135 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were five deaths in Bedford (362), no deaths in Luton (379) and eight deaths in Central Bedfordshire (447).

Central Bedfordshire has 59 new Covid cases with a total of 13,120, while Luton recorded 109 with a new total of 16,053.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 26,096 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 65,837 and Milton Keynes has 16,905 cases.

In the UK, as of today, 6,853,327 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 472,446 have received their second dose. ​

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 20,089 and now stands at 3,689,746. The number of deaths has risen by 1,631 to 100,162.
