Update: Bedford cases begin to rise as 10 people test positive for Covid in 24 hours

As of today (April 14), Bedford recorded 10 new case of coronavirus, with a total of 13,412 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were no deaths in Bedford (485), none in Central Bedfordshire (569) or Luton (496).

Since Friday, Public Health England has changed the way cases are reported again.

Cases that have been identified through a positive rapid lateral flow test will be removed for people who took Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests within three days that were all negative.

Central Bedfordshire has four new Covid cases with a total of 15,863, while Luton recorded 36 with a new total of 20,335.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 31,282 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 76,368 and Milton Keynes has 19,985 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

In the UK, as of today, 32,326,604 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 8,170,081 have received their second dose. ​

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 2,491 and now stands at 4,378,305. The number of deaths has risen by 38 to 127,161.
