UPDATE: Almost 30 people test positive for Covid in Bedford

As of today (June 23), Bedford recorded 27 new cases of coronavirus, with a total of 15,243 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were no deaths in Bedford (482), Central Bedfordshire (571) or Luton (504).

Central Bedfordshire has 28 new Covid cases with a total of 16,969, while Luton recorded 48, with a new total of 21,781.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 32,942 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 79,780 and Milton Keynes has 20,913 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

In Bedford, as of today, 116,344 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 80,337 have received their second dose. In the UK, 75,188,795 people have been vaccinated.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 11,625 and now stands at 4,667,870. There were 19 deaths, bringing the total to 128,027.
