UPDATE: Almost 30 people in Bedford test positive for Covid

As of today (June 2), Bedford recorded 29 new case of coronavirus, with a total of 14,572 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were no deaths in Bedford (485), Central Bedfordshire (571) or Luton (500).

Central Bedfordshire has 12 new Covid cases with a total of 16,416, while Luton recorded 18 with a new total of 21,118.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 32,014 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 77,795 and Milton Keynes has 20,402 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

In the UK, as of today, 39,585,665 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 26,073,284 have received their second dose.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 4,330 and now stands at 4,494,699. There were 12 deaths, bringing the total to 127,794.
