UPDATE: 25 people in Bedford test positive for Covid in 24 hours

As of today (June 1), Bedford recorded 25 new case of coronavirus, with a total of 14,543 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were no deaths in Bedford (485), Central Bedfordshire (571) or Luton (500) - and zero deaths recorded in the rest of the UK for the first time since the pandemic began.

Central Bedfordshire has 22 new Covid cases with a total of 16,404, while Luton recorded 19 with a new total of 21,100.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 31,985 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 77,747 and Milton Keynes has 20,389 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

In the UK, as of today, 39,477,158 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 25,734,719 have received their second dose.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 3,165 and now stands at 4,490,438. The number of deaths still stands at 127,782.
