UPDATE: 110 people diagnosed with coronavirus in Bedford and 144 in Central Beds

Today (April 6), Bedford has had a total of 110 people diagnosed with the deadly virus - up from 97.

Central Bedfordshire has 144 cases, up from 132 and Luton is up from 163, with 167 cases.

These numbers are lower than Hertfordshire (870) and Buckinghamshire (300) and Milton Keynes (181) but members of the public are urged to remain indoors as much as possible to halt the spread of coronavirus.

The new figures are now recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm.

On Monday, March 23, the government announced tougher social distancing measures, with all outdoor activities prohibited except for food shopping, one daily exercise, treatment of a condition and any essential travel for work.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases now stands at 51,608. The number of deaths has been recorded as 5,373, according to Public Health England.
