BBC Three Counties Radio is asking the nation to come together once again and send in photos of themselves and their family saluting Captain Tom Moore as he turns 100 on April 30.

In response to Captain Tom’s outstanding achievement he is currently receiving hundreds of thousands of birthday cards from all over the world.

And as his 100th birthday is just around the corner, the radio station, dubbing April 30 as Captain Tom Day, would like to give him an extra special birthday present. It’s asking listeners, and the nation, to send in their photos donning a ‘salute’ for Captain Tom. These images will be collated into a mosaic that will form a much larger commemorative image of Captain Tom.

You can submit your photos via the BBC Make a Difference webpage here. The station will make a video showreel of all the pictures and post it on their social media handles, as well as sending the final mosaic image to his family members for Captain Tom.

Laura Moss, editor of BBC Three Counties Radio, said: “We’ve followed Captain Tom’s journey from the start, and we will be marking his big birthday celebrations by lighting up the building with a video wall with messages and support for him, we’re dubbing April 30 Captain Tom Day on air and now we’re asking people to come together once again and send in photos saluting this magnificent man.

“Captain Tom really has captured the hearts of the nation and the rest of the world. He is a true hero in our community and we want to mark his centenary by showing him the faces behind the love, support and donations.”
