Number of Covid patients being treated in Bedfordshire Hospitals Trust on the rise again
Almost 60 people are currently being treated
Bedfordshire Hospitals Trust was caring for 55 coronavirus patients in hospital as of Tuesday last week, figures show.
NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19 by 8am on August 10 was up from 47 on the same day the previous week.
The number of beds at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 more than doubled in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 22.
There is no further breakdown between Bedford Hospital and Luton & Dunstable Hospital.
Across England there were 5,096 people in hospital with Covid as of August 10, with 782 of them in mechanical ventilation beds.
The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalised nationally increased by 72 per cent in the last four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has increased by 66 per cent.
The figures also show that 53 new Covid patients were admitted to hospital in Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the week to August 8. This was up from 43 in the previous seven days.
