Official figures show that 31 more cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Bedford.

Public Health England figures show that 583 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am Wednesday morning (May 20) in Bedford, up from 552 the same time on Tuesday. A week before, there were 531 cases.

It means cases have increased by 6 per cent over the last 24 hours, while the number of cases across the UK was revised down by around 500.

No new deaths from coronavirus have been recorded at the Bedford Hospital Trust over the past 24 hours, latest official figures show.

NHS England figures show 152 people had died in hospital at Bedford Hospital NHS Trust as of 5pm on Tuesday (May 19) – the same number as on Monday.

Across the UK, 248,293 people had tested positive for coronavirus as of 9am on Wednesday, revised down from 248,818 at the same point on Tuesday, Department of Health and Social Care figures show.

In total, 1,996,648 people had been tested, and, as of 5pm on Tuesday, 35,704 had died.
