Hundreds of appointments are available for Covid vaccinations, say health bosses - who are urging all unvaccinated adults in eligible groups to get their jabs booked today.

NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Bedford Borough Council say there are hundreds of appointments available for the first dose of the Pfizer vaccination at King’s House and the Guru Nanak Gurdwara Temple.

Vaccinations are being offered to people who are eligible for the vaccine in line with national guidelines. This includes all adults; anyone who has a health condition that puts them at higher risk of Covid; anyone providing care for someone, and grouped appointments are available for adults in a household enabling them to be vaccinated at the same time.

The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: “We are working very hard with the NHS to bring as many vaccinations into the area as possible for all adults. It is vital that you take this chance to increase protection, not just for you, but for your families and friends.”

Dr Sarah Whiteman, Chair of the Clinical Commissioning Group, added: “We have appointments available today because we know how incredibly important it is that that we bring the vaccine to as many Bedford residents as possible.

"We are particularly keen to vaccinate anyone with a health condition who hasn’t yet come forward. They are more at risk from becoming seriously unwell if they catch the virus and we want to make sure they have the best possible protection if cases of the variant of concern do continue to rise.”

Dr Vijay Nayar, one of Bedford Borough’s GPs, said: “We are very happy to support the CCG with this vaccination programme. The vaccination programme in Bedford provides us with a vital line of defence. If you are eligible, please ensure you are vaccinated by using the dedicated Bedford Borough booking line to make an appointment at either the Guru Nanak Gurdwara Temple or King’s House.

“Pfizer is safe for everyone and I would encourage everyone to use this local offer and get vaccinated as soon as possible. The earlier everyone has their first dose, the earlier they can have their second one and increase protection across the community.”

The dedicated Bedford Borough Council booking line is available by calling 01234 718077 or you can book online. If you are not sure whether you are eligible call 01234 718077 to speak to us.
