Google data shows Bedford residents movements have changed massively since coronavirus outbreak

Bedford residents have been following government advice - with visits to shops and cafes having fallen by 86 per cent since the coronavirus lockdown.

The information comes from products such as Google Maps, the company said, during the period between February 16 and March 29.

The data also revealed people were travelling to bus and train stations 72 per cent less often in Bedford and journeys to workplaces had dropped 49 per cent.

Trips for grocery had also fallen 47 per cent while trips to the park had also dropped to 51 per cent.

It does look like people are staying at home and following government advice as residential showed an increase of 28 per cent.

There were similar figures for Central Bedfordshire - trips to shops had fallen by 82 per cent; trips to train and bus stations were down 74 per cent; journeys to workplace had dropped 54 per cent; grocery trips were down 45 per cent; visits to the park were down 41 per cent.

People in Central Beds were also staying at home with an increase of 20 per cent.
