EVENING UPDATE: Bedford records another large rise in cases and one more death

As of last night (November 12), Bedford has recorded 50 new cases, with a total of 2,749 people now diagnosed with the virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

In Central Bedfordshire, there were 97 new cases of Covid, with a total of 2,983 while Luton has 112, with a new total of 4,280.

There was one death in Bedford (182), one death in Luton (204) and two deaths in Central Bedfordshire (243).

The deaths figures for England and UK were published late last night (Thursday) on the Public Health England website.

Nationally, the death toll has been 'recalculated' by officials. The new count is based on a new definition of who has died from Covid-19.

Previously, people in England who died at any stage following a positive test, regardless of the cause of their death, were counted in the figures.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 5,906 cases, Hertfordshire has 13,972 and Milton Keynes has 2,730 cases.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 33,470 and now stands at 1,290,195.

The number of deaths has risen by 563 to 50,928.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm.
