Covid update: Bedford records only five cases in 24 hours

And no deaths in the town for 11th day running

As of today (March 24), Bedford has recorded just five new cases of coronavirus, with a total of 13,294 people now diagnosed with the deadly virus, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There were no deaths in Bedford (483), no deaths in Central Bedfordshire (567) and one in Luton (491).

Central Bedfordshire has 16 new Covid cases with a total of 15,599, while Luton recorded 40 with a new total of 19,764.

Meanwhile, Buckinghamshire now has 30,899 cases of Covid, Hertfordshire has 75,633 and Milton Keynes has 19,700 cases.

The new figures are recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm and unfortunately don't include the number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19.

In the UK, as of today, 28,653,523 people have received the first dose of the vaccination for Covid, and 2,532,839 have received their second dose. ​

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 5,605 and now stands at 4,312,908. The number of deaths has risen by just 98 to 126,382.
