The total number of cases in the borough now stands at 1,231 (+4).

Yesterday (Thursday) saw 422 cases added to Bedford's total after Public Health England made changes to its data gathering.

Previous data shared by Public Health England relied solely on Pillar 1 (testing from Public Health England and NHS Hospital Trusts), but as of Thursday the information includes Pillar 2 (non-clinical and commercial testing).

Bedford has the sixth-worst coronavirus infection rate among authorities in England and Wales, at 717.3 per 100,000.

Elsewhere in the county, Central Bedfordshire stands has 1208 (+4) cases while Luton's figure is at 1,359 (+2).
