Central Bedfordshire Council warns residents to be vigilant of COVID-19 charity challs

Central Bedfordshire Council's Trading Standards team is warning residents to be extra vigilant if they receive any unexpected phone calls during the current COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.

There have been reports of callers claiming to be from "The Corona Charity Fund" making alarmist claims on the expected death count and how bad the current situation is and going to be. The caller then asks for a donation.

If you receive this type of call - hang up! Don't share any personal details or payment information.

If you ever receive a suspicious call or suspect a scam, please report it to the council by calling 0808 223 1133.
